Robiquity has been working in close partnership with Evri since 2023, driving a series of automation initiatives that have transformed the way the UK’s leading parcel delivery company operates. Building on this strong foundation, the two organisations have now launched two game-changing projects: the introduction of “Hey! Charli,” an Agentic AI-powered HR assistant, and the rapid delivery of an app for the recruitment of self-employed van drivers to deliver an automated recruitment journey.
Both innovations mark a significant milestone in Evri’s intelligent automation journey, showcasing how cutting-edge technology solutions can drive measurable business impact.
Discussing reaching this milestone, Marcus Hunter, CTO at Evri stated “Automation is central to our strategy for scaling efficiently and delivering exceptional service. By transforming van driver recruitment into an automated process and introducing Agentic AI for HR, we’re future-proofing our operations and creating better experiences for both employees and customers.”
“Hey! Charli” – An Agentic AI HR Assistant
Evri’s HR team are required to promptly and accurately respond to high volumes of queries from its thousands of employees. The volume of these queries has increased significantly as the business has continued to scale in size. Many of the queries received can be repetitive and not urgent – ranging from policy clarifications to routine process questions - all of which were consuming valuable time and slowing down response rates. The cumulative impact was significant with HR spending hours on repetitive tasks and non-urgent queries, instead of spending their time dealing with pressing and sensitive enquiries or on strategic initiatives.
The introduction of “Hey! Charli”, an Agentic AI solution built on Microsoft CoPilot Studio, changes that dynamic completely. Unlike traditional chatbots, Agentic AI systems can reason, plan, and execute actions across multiple systems autonomously. Embedded in Microsoft Teams, “Hey! Charli” provides employees instant answers to common HR questions, guides employees through processes like leave requests and intelligently assists users to escalate issues to an HR specialist when necessary. All responses are pulled from HR’s bank of policies and processes ensuring accurate answers.
The introduction of the Agentic AI HR Assistant not only reduces administrative burden on Evri’s HR department but also enhances employee satisfaction by delivering fast and accurate assistance.
Chris Gatrell, Head of Intelligent Automation at Evri, said“Hey! Charli is a huge step forward in how we use AI to support our workforce. It’s not just about answering questions - it’s about enabling our people to get what they need instantly, without friction, while reducing repetitive admin for back-office functions. This marks a huge leap forward in Evri’s leadership in AI adoption -piloting scalable, intelligent solutions that can be extended across other critical business functions.”
Van Driver Recruitment App - Accelerating Driver Recruitment
Evri Premium, a Network of DHL’s recruitment process is critical to the business’ ability to scale self-employed van drivers during peak periods (such as Black Friday and Christmas). Previously, the journey from application to onboarding new drivers involved many manual steps that slowed things down. Previously, the recruitment team had to manually handle every step of initial applications and scheduling screening calls and interviews. A very time-consuming process for the recruitment team and a clunky process for candidates with multiple emails back and forth required. The slow process risked drivers being lost to other recruitment processes.
The newly built app delivers an automated process that speeds up hiring suitably qualified drivers and strengthens operational resilience. Candidates submit details like driving licence and vehicle suitability, while the app checks for criminal convictions. Should candidates meet the minimum requirements they are automatically advanced to schedule a screening call - ensuring recruitment teams focus only on qualified, suitable applicants.
A key part of what makes this project stand out is the speed and agility of delivery. Asked to solve a pressing business challenge on 1st September 2025, Robiquity worked with Evri to scope the idea, capture requirements, design the solution and build it using Microsoft Power Platform - all within five weeks.
By October the app is live and ready to support the recruitment of close to 2,000 self-employed van drivers across 48 depots in the UK, ensuring Evri can meet increased parcel volumes during its busiest time of year, delivering for customers across the UK and providing a smoother, more enjoyable onboarding experience for drivers who can now hit the road faster than ever before.
This is a powerful example of how low-code technology enables rapid innovation without compromising on quality. By leveraging Microsoft Power Platform, Robiquity and Evri delivered a solution that not only solves an immediate business problem but also lays the foundation for a scalable, future-ready recruitment processes.
Gary Robinson, Director of Final Mile and Operational Support at Evri added “Recruitment speed is critical for us, especially during peak periods. Thanks to Robiquity we can now onboard drivers faster and keep our network running smoothly. This has enabled us to assess and process over 2,000 applications in less than 2 weeks. Something that would not have been possible previously. It is a game-changer for our operations.”
Why This Matters
Both projects underscore Evri’s commitment to leveraging intelligent automation as a strategic enabler, not just for cost savings, but for creating better experiences for both employees (new and future) and customers. The introduction of Agentic AI through “Hey! Charli” positions Evri as one of the first UK logistics companies to deploy this advanced technology in a live environment, setting a precedent for the industry.
Robiquity’s role as Evri’s trusted automation partner has been pivotal in delivering these solutions, combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of Evri’s operational challenges. Together, the two companies are demonstrating how automation and AI can move beyond simple task execution to deliver adaptive, intelligent systems that transform business outcomes.
Tom Davies, CEO at Robiquity said “These projects demonstrate what’s possible when automation moves beyond simple workflows into intelligent, adaptive systems. Agentic AI isn’t a buzzword anymore, Robiquity’s work with Evri and other customers demonstrates that it’s a practical solution that’s already transforming UK businesses. We’re proud to help set a new standard for innovation in the logistics sector.”
