OpenAI’s GPT-5 Release – Everything You Need to Know

August 2025

Discover what OpenAI’s latest release, GPT-5, means for Microsoft users and Robiquity customers.

OpenAI has officially released GPT-5, its most advanced AI model to date, now available to all ChatGPT users, developers and businesses alike.

Designed as a unified system, GPT-5 dynamically routes between models: a lightweight, high-throughput option for routine tasks, a deeper reasoning engine for complex queries, and graceful fallbacks like the Mini and Nano variants when usage limits are reached.

Key Features & Benefits

A major leap in AI capability:

GPT-5 delivers significant intelligence improvements over previous models, excelling in coding, math, writing, health, visual perception and more.

Unified architecture with dynamic model routing:

·       GPT-5 combines fast-response and deeper-reasoning modes.

·       Smart real-time routing decides which mode to use based on prompt complexity or user instruction like “think hard about this”.

·       GPT-5 removes the need for users to choose models manually.

Enhanced accuracy and usefulness:

·       GPT-5's responses are 45% less likely to contain a factual error than GPT-4o and ~80% less likely when “thinking” deeply.

·       Substantial reductions in hallucinations and sycophancy, with better instruction following.

·       Improved judgment when it should refuse or express uncertainty.

·       Improved real-world utility across writing, coding, and health scenarios.

Top-tier benchmark performance:

·       Math: 94.6% on AIME 2025 (without tools).

·       Coding: 74.9% on SWE-bench Verified and 88% on Aider Polyglot.

·       Multimodal: 84.2% on MMMU.

·       Health: 46.2% on Health Bench Hard.

GPT-5 Pro variant:

·     This is a variant of GPT‑5 that thinks for ever longer, designed for especially challenging tasks; delivers even deeper, more comprehensive reasoning using efficient parallel test-time compute.

·    GPT-5 Pro variant achieves state-of-the-art results on benchmarks like GPQA.

Microsoft Moves Fast: Multi-Platform Rollout

Maybe unsurprisingly, Microsoft have already moved quickly to include GPT-5 as an option across several of its offerings.

1. Copilot Studio

Soon Microsoft CoPilot Studio will include GPT-5 Auto and GPT-5 Reasoning as model options, allowing us to choose between auto-routing or deep-reasoning models for custom agents. This unlocks sharper orchestration, multi-turn coherence, and improved instruction following.

2. Azure AI Foundry

General availability of GPT-5 is already available in Azure AI Foundry equipped with multiple sub-models:

  • GPT-5(full reasoning) with 272K-token context.
  • GPT-5 mini for real-time interactions.
  • GPT-5 nano for ultra-low latency yet rich Q&A.
  • GPT-5 chat for multimodal, context-rich conversations with 128K-token context.

Developers can benefit from the model router in Foundry Models that allows seamless switching and potentially up to 60% cost savings without compromising capability.

GPT-5 will also be available in the Foundry Agent Service, pairing frontier models with built-in tools including new browser automation and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations.

3. Microsoft 365 Copilot

GPT-5 is now live for licensed Microsoft365 Copilot users to reason over both web and organisational data such as emails, documents, meetings and chats, delivering both speedy and deeply reasoned outputs through a “Try GPT-5” toggle.

Rollout to non-licenses is underway and expected to complete in the coming weeks.

 4. GitHub Copilot & Visual Studio

GPT-5 entered GitHub Copilot on the 7th August for all paid plans, accessible via Chat on github.com, in VS Code and GitHub Mobile through a model picker.

What does GPT-5 Mean for Robiquity’s Customers?

For our customers utilising Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform, significant benefits have been unlocked, including:

  • Greater ROI from Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform: GPT-5’s smarter orchestration means AI assistants can handle more complex, cross-app     workflows, reducing manual intervention and improving automation efficiency.
  • Increased value from Microsoft licensing: By unlocking more functionality within Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365, GPT-5 ensures you get maximum     value from existing subscriptions.
  • Faster delivery of AI-infused products: With Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry upgrades, users can get tailored AI agents live faster, with less custom coding and fewer integration headaches.
  • Lower total cost of ownership: Automated multi-model routing ensures only necessary compute power is used, reducing operational costs for AI-driven     workflows.
  • Reduced development costs and timelines: GPT-5 accelerates low-code solution design, meaning fewer billable hours spent on manual coding and faster     delivery of business apps and automations, decreasing time to value.

What does GPT-5 mean for End Users?

With OpenAI’s launch of GPT-5, end users of the Microsoft stack, starting now, have unlocked clear productivity and user-experience benefits, including:

  • More accurate, context-aware help: Responses are better aligned with intent     and company-specific context, reducing the need for rework.
  • Quicker, smoother task completion: From drafting reports to analysing spreadsheets, GPT-5 can handle more steps in a single interaction, saving time.
  • Easier interaction with complex systems: Users can describe what they want in natural language and GPT-5 handles the technical execution.
  • Richer, more natural conversations: Multi-turn conversations retain context better, so users don’t have to repeat themselves or restate information.
  • Fewer errors and “AI guesswork”: Reduced hallucinations mean users can trust outputs more, increasing adoption rates and improving user satisfaction.

Ready to Unlock the Power of GPT-5?

GPT-5 represents a meaningful step forward in AI, especially for those already working within the Microsoft ecosystem. With smarter orchestration, improved accuracy and broader integration across tools like Microsoft 365, Azure, and Copilot Studio, it’s now easier than ever to build intelligent, responsive solutions that support both business goals and user needs.
