We had a brilliant week at the recent European Power Platform Conference. The event was packed with great sessions – it was truly an inspiring few days. The Robiquity team and I who were there on the ground left with several notes. Here are our standout takeaways and why they matter.
Joined-up governance is non‑negotiable
During the agentic security and governance sessions, we were reminded that you can’t govern in silos. Copilot Studio, Power Platform and Microsoft 365 constantly influence each other - policies, roles and data access need to be aligned end-to-end.
Practical tip: find out who your admins are across platforms in your company, consolidate your control points (environment DLPs, environment grouping strategies, data policies) and join these up through the relevant tools (Purview, Agent 365, Power Platform Admin Centre).
Watch for connector changes: DLP to MCP
We heard and observed that some previously approved connectors in DLP are appearing as allowing MCP actions of those connectors, without prominent notice. As an example, a previously approved Jira connector would now allow the Jira MCP variant unless manually turned off. We believe this matters as we want to limit data exposure to only the uses we approve for that environment.
Action: audit approved connectors and update DLP definitions to allow/block MCP actions.
Pick the right agent for the job
Power Platform Copilot agents aren’t always the best primary agent. Fabric or SharePoint agents can be more consistent when inputs are predictable and may offer better token usage and performance. Copilot shines as the orchestration layer, and if agent-to-agent communication is required. Use it to coordinate specialised agents and services, while routing tasks to the most capable or cost‑effective agent for the scenario.
Power Apps MCP: agent‑first single pane on the horizon
We caught an impressive demo of PowerApps MCP. It’s not in general availability yet, but the direction is exciting: a “single pane” that’s agent‑first rather than app‑first. Expect new ways to surface capability around agents and scenarios, potentially simplifying how users discover and engage with automation.
Security is front and centre - and admin is getting harder
Sessions leaned heavily into agent security, risk modelling and sprawl reduction. That’s great to see, but it also means Power Platform administration keeps getting more complex.
Guardrails we’re leaning into: least privilege for agents, scoped environments, strong DLP policies, monitored connectors, human-in-the-loop for sensitive actions and robust logging/alerting, as well as use of the new Agent 365.
Copilot Studio: workflows, migration and cost visibility
The new workflow capability in Copilot Studio is exciting and looks capable of a lot. Where could they be better than Power Automate? Potentially in agent-centric orchestration with tighter grounding and context-handling, or if inputs need interpreting.
Migration isn’t automatic from old Copilot Studio to new, so considerations need to be made regarding the potential value of migrating to new Copilot Studio (with its new features). Does this solution truly need new Copilot features? If it’s stable already and working, don’t migrate for the sake of it. New testing granularity is welcome though - you can now test nodes in an agent workflow and see cost per node. This should help with optimisation and budgeting.
Keynote notes: powerful “Cowork” scenarios, but ringfence them
The Copilot keynote showcased the compelling new Copilot Cowork feature. The power is obvious - but so is the need for ringfencing. Pair that with strict scoping, grounding and data boundaries to keep knowledge and personal data safe and segregated to only its relevant uses.
Diving deeper into the detail
If you were at EPPC, we’d love to compare notes or if you’re planning your next steps with Copilot, Power Platform or Fabric, let’s chat about what will make the biggest impact safely.
